Paulie Gee's Slice Shop
Summary
This is Paulie Gee’s sliced pizza. You can order a whole pie if you want. All in all though, I think Vinnie’s in Brooklyn is better.
The pepperoni pizza was good but not great for slice. If you come here expecting a similar crust to what the original Paulie Gee’s serves, prepare to be disappointed. The crust is not that great compared to a lot of NYC sliced pizza places.
I will say that the garlic white pizza (aka mootz) was actually pretty good. In some ways, I actually liked that more becaause I felt there weren’t enough pepperonis on the pepperoni slice. It seems to be a fad now where places don’t give large pepperoni slices, but instead give these little pepperoni cups. It was super garlicky, and the white cheese complicated well. They definitely did not skimp out on the white cheese.
Final Verdict
It’s not a bad pizza slice place, but nor is it great. If there’s a long line, you’re better off going somewhere else. You’re not missing much except maybe the Mootz.
Yelp Jabs
Both slices were some of the best slices I have had in a very long time.
This Yelp Elitist somehow earned an Elite status yet hasn’t had good slices in a long time. This seems rather ironic given this person lives in NYC. Their reviews can’t be trusted.
The retro vibe was cute and all, but early on a Sunday evening, it was impossible to find seating, had we wanted to do that.
I suppose very popular sliced pizza shops should always have seatings.
