Souvlaki GR
Summary
If you’re just shy of Central Park to the south and it’s in the middle of the day, this might be a good option.
On the bottom is the mixed grilled meat platter for two people (psita tis oras poikilia). It’s a combination of lambchops, traditional Greek sauce, pork/beef skewers, and pita and tzatziki. All of this was pretty good. The lambchops were ordered medium rare, and it was tender and delicious. I like the char on this.
The greek salad (horiatiki) at the top has tomato, cucumber, red onions, feta cheese, and kalamata olives. The salad surprisingly has no lettuce which I thought was fine, and it was dressed in a light vinegar sauce. I like how this was a fairly basic salad too, though I could do with less red onions.
Service was pretty fast, and my expectations for this restaurant was pretty level for the most part.
Final Verdict
I think for a no frills Greek restaurant with BBQ meat, this place is pretty good.
Yelp Jabs
I get that it’s a holiday, but the mood is ruined when it’s so crammed packed that you can’t move for fear of elbowing the table next to you.
Although this place is fairly sized, I can see how certain people are expecting suburbia seating spaces. I think they must be reminded that this is a city that can’t really expand.
